I am sure you will agree that this is a shocking and upsetting statistic, children today are surrounded by more and more stressful environments and events, and we need to act proactively and preventatively to calm this storm.

More studies each day are showing how mediation and other holistic health techniques can help to alleviate anxiety and depression in adults, and children. Anxiety and depression are often the first signs of a mental health problem, and if left untreated they can develop into more serious mental ill health.

I have developed a four-week program which introduces children to these tools and allows them to take control of their own mental wellbeing with a sense of autonomy.

The program

The program is broken down into 4 weeks and includes

  • An introduction to meditation and mindfulness.
  • Breathing techniques.
  • A variety of mindful activities
  • An introduction to complementary therapies
  • EFT- Tapping
  • Guided Meditations

By introducing this kind of education within a school setting we can reduce the stigma attached to mental health, we can teach a class as a group rather than singling out children who 'need' help and we can act preventatively.
